PRINT-2240: Monotype
Course Description
Monotype is an exciting print technique, which merges drawing, painting and printmaking to create rich and expressive imagery. By working with either oil or water-based inks on a slick surface, images are transferred to paper under pressure in singular or multiple drops producing unique results unattainable in other processes. This versatile process is introduced through a series of demonstrations and studio practice. Along with work on specific projects, participation in critiques, and in-studio work, students will use the techniques covered to develop series of prints as a body of work. Students are encouraged to explore creative methods that meet individual aesthetic and conceptual needs. Open to beginning and advanced students from any major.
