PRINT-3080: Advanced Relief Print

Course Description

Relief printmaking is a medium capable of immense graphic power spanning Expressionist woodcuts to the unique subtlety of Japanese Ukiyo-e prints. In this course students will explore the rich possibilities of image production through traditional and contemporary relief techniques. Wood, linoleum, and other materials will be employed to create a wide variety of prints. Students are encouraged to explore creative methods that meet individual aesthetic and conceptual needs. They will also be expected to develop an increasingly complex body of work through their personal vocabulary with the media. Open to students from any major who have taken Relief 1 and who want dedicated time and support to focus on their practice at an advanced level.
