Description:

This is a vertical elective combining students in their fourth and fifth year of the BArch program with students from the architecture graduate programs. The content of the elective options varies from year to year.Section DescriptionThis course examines the intersection of design, research, and emerging technologies, taking place at both the Autodesk Technology Center and CCA. Under the instructor’s guidance, students will participate in an Autodesk residency, engaging in hands-on exploration with digital fabrication and robotic technologies.The course emphasizes not only technical proficiency but also research methodologies relevant to design, with a strong focus on process, documentation, and dissemination. Students will engage deeply in material exploration while developing skills critical to contemporary digital fabrication practices.THIS IS A ONE-SEMESTER COURSE.Classes will meet at both the Autodesk Technology Center at Pier 9 and the Digital Craft Lab at CCA. Students are responsible for their own transportation and parking costs for sessions held at Autodesk.Enrollment is limited to 4 students. Students must apply and receive instructor approval to enroll.
