Dear Students,

As we look forward to a vibrant and productive 2026–2027 academic year together at CCA, we are also dedicated to ensuring you have a clear, supported path for your studies in the years that follow.

We are pleased to share that we are in active communication with several institutions, working collaboratively towards reaching meaningful teach-out agreements. These teach-out affiliations are being designed for your benefit, to provide you with a more seamless transition than a standard transfer.

Current Potential Partner Institutions

  • Art Center College of Design
  • California Institute of the Arts (CalArts)
  • California State University East Bay
  • Pratt Institute
  • San Francisco State University
  • Woodbury University

Note: we are in conversations with additional institutions and will provide updates when there is more information to share.

The Benefits of a Teach-Out Agreement

Teach-out agreements are designed to protect your academic progress, financial resources, and to minimize administrative hurdles. We are working with these partners to prioritize:

  • Peer Continuity: Facilitating opportunities for groups of CCA students to transition together, allowing you to move toward your degree alongside your cohort and peers.
  • Credit Recognition: Ensuring your CCA coursework counts toward your degree.
  • Affordability: Focusing on financial support and managing the overall cost of attendance.
  • Time to Degree: Reducing barriers to keep you on track for graduation. Some institutions have “residency requirements” that can be waived or reduced through a teach-out agreement.
  • Streamlined Transitions: Providing coordinated advising and simplified onboarding so you are not navigating the process alone.

Timing & Eligibility

  • Future Planning: These agreements will apply to students who are enrolled at CCA in Spring 2027 but will not graduate by the end of that term.
  • Program Specifics: Because every major is unique, these agreements will be program-specific. We aim to share more details in advance of Fall registration to aid your academic planning.

What’s Next?

We know many of you have questions about program-specific pathways and financial support; these details are a central part of the negotiations currently underway with partner institutions.

Our aim is to finalize these agreements in the coming weeks. Once agreements are complete, we will host information sessions to walk you through specific pathways and introduce you to our partner schools. We will continue to provide updates on our student FAQ and on a forthcoming Portal page as agreements are finalized and additional partners are identified.

We are inspired by your talent and look forward to supporting you as you define your unique professional and academic pathways.

Sincerely,

TT Takemoto, Interim Provost
Margo Landy, Vice President of Enrollment Management
